The Fossil Rock is a historic tavern in Shell, Wyoming. We serve the best home-cooked food, the coldest beer, warmest hospitality along with great times! This is one place you definitely want to stop on your trip. There's nowhere else like it!
To put it simply: There’s no place like The Fossil Rock Tavern. When you’re the only place for miles -- surrounded by rugged Wyoming terrain and wildlife -- you become a lot of things to a lot of people. And everyone who’s walked through our doors is our most important customer. We serve the best food -- ask anyone who’s tried our burger, pizza, or famous chips and salsa. We are a haven for weary travelers. We've even performed a marriage ceremony for our customers -- and our building is something of a monument to Shell’s history, its back wall covered in photos of visitors from all over the world and the great memories made here. After purchasing the property, Verna worked alone, day and night, to bring life back into this old, long-neglected building. She had a vision for what it could be, but it became so much more than a tavern. She's still working hard on her vision, knowing that she's built this place -- with love, sweat, and tears -- for each of her customers.
